It’s been days since I wrote something here.Today,it’s time to share something important and interesting from the Scriptures.
If you are a Christian, I believe that you have already heard the story of David and Goliath. If you know it, then this blog will help you but even if you don’t,it’s okay! I’ll share the story in brief so that you can understand this blog better and even you can check in the youtube about the story of David and Goliath, you will find some amazing videos related to it.
This has happened centuries ago. A group of people from an island of Crede had settled onto the coast of Palestine and desired to expand their territory, they planned to capture the kingdom of King Saul. Palestinians sent their greatest warrior Goliath into the valley to capture King Saul’s kingdom.
Goliath would come down twice a day and shout over to the Israelites,“Choose a man and have him come down and fight me. If I beat him you all become our servants but if he beats me, we’ll become your servants.”
It was a do or die situation for the Israelites and no one was ready to fight with Goliath since he was giant in structure,he was very strong and had the capacity to destroy the Israelite army with single hand.
David was a small Shepherd boy from Bethlehem. David was brave and bold. He had enough courage to fight against Goliath. But he was still a teenager. He went to king Saul and asked the permission to fight against Goliath in the battle field.
1 Samuel 17:33 |ESV Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him, for you are but a youth, and he has been a man of war from his youth.”
In the beginning,Saul denied David’s plea. For instance,if we are in the position of a headmaster in a school and we want to appoint a teacher to teach Science, for sure we will appoint someone who has the knowledge and some prior experience in teaching field. But,we never appoint a kid to teach. Just imagine,if we were in King Saul’s position,we might have never given the permission to David to fight against Goliath because we prejudice based on the physical appearance.
Giving charge to a person like David, who was a small shepherd is a brave decision taken by Saul. Saul might have suffered a great deal of criticism by his people for taking such a decision but in the end, Israelites got the victory (David killed the giant with the help of God and not by weapons).
In this blog,I’m neither emphasizing about the character of David nor of Goliath but I’m seeing the whole story in a different angle i.e, from King Saul’s perspective. What if King Saul didn’t give the permission to David to fight against Goliath? The whole story would have been the opposite, right!
God gave David as a gift and as a blessing to Saul,David was a kid but Saul believed in him since he was given by God.
Blessings can be in any form , sometimes blessings comes to our lives in human form like David.Even in our lives, we think that whatever we have is of no use sometimes, but it might be given by God. Sometimes our talent and whatever we possess seems like no use,but don’t get discouraged.
Psalm 90:17| ESV
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!
You might be an average student, you might not be financially sound and you might be having very less opportunities around, you might have very few talents or with no talent,It’s okay! Whatever you have, no matter whether it’s small or big, use it for God. The way God blessed King Saul through little David, the same God will bless you with little things. Blessings might look so small in the beginning but they can break the big giants in our lives and help us to win the battles.
See you all in the coming week!
Sharing is caring,
With love❤️
